Folding Arm Awning Warranty

Siena Folding Arm Awnings are cover by a 5 year manufactures warranty.

Maintenance

To operate at it’s best, Siena® Folding Arm Awnings need to be clean and free of debris. It is recommended to periodically remove any dirt or soiling from the arms and brackets with any exposed hardware wiped down with a soft brush or clean cloth.

The awning has a water drain function designed in the front rail extrusion that collects water which is then ejected at each side of the front rail. Periodically checking the groove and cleaning any residue from the channel or side will ensure that moisture will continue to flow as required.

Never use abrasive sponges or solvent type cleaners (turps, kerosene, paint thinners) on componentry or Powder Coated surfaces. Using such agents will void the warranty.

Once a year, before summer open the awning half-way and lubricate all moving parts with a proprietary silicone spray (use in accordance with the silicone spray suppliers’ recommendations, which includes testing a small inconspicuous area first to ensure no detrimental side effects).

Every 2 years the Siena® Folding Arm Awnings must be serviced by the dealer who installed it originally or a similar experienced awning technician. Failure to do so will void the warranty.

Exclusions:

The following will void the warranty:

  • If the Siena® Folding Arm Awning is installed incorrectly and not in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • If the Siena® Folding Arm Awning is not used in accordance with its intended design and outside of its recommended applications. This expressly includes not hanging from or placing anything on the arms, rail, brackets, or any other part of the awning system. Serious risk of personal injury or damage to the awning can also result.
  • Operation of the awning during extreme weather events.
  • If the product has been altered, tampered with, or damaged by any means.
  • If individual components have been used outside of specification or to perform a function not fit for purpose.
  • If the Siena® Folding Arm Awning has not been adequately treated in accord with manufacturers care and maintenance recommendations.
  • If the scheduled 2 year service maintenance program is missed by an authorised, experienced awning technician.
  • Use of abrasive sponges or solvent type cleaning agents (turps, kerosene, paint thinners) on componentry or powder coated surfaces will void the warranty.

Care and Maintenance

Awning Care & Maintenance Guide

Initial Setup

After installation, awnings should be fully extended and left down for approximately 2–4 days. This helps the fabric settle evenly and reduces any waves or wrinkles, allowing the assembly to tighten naturally.

Weather Precautions

Always retract awnings during harsh weather conditions (strong winds, heavy rain, frost, or snow).

Avoid rolling up the awning when it’s wet. If unavoidable, extend it fully to dry as soon as possible to prevent mould and mildew.

Do not leave the awning extended in rain, as this reduces the effectiveness of mould-resistant treatments in the fabric.

Fabric Care

If creases occur from rolling up a wet awning, re-wet the fabric and leave it fully extended in the sun to smooth it out.

Reapply a fabric water-repellent treatment once a year to maintain protection.

Remove bird or bat droppings, garden litter, or plant matter promptly—these can encourage bacteria and staining.

Cleaning

Clean only when the awning is dry. Use a soft brush or gently hose it down on warm, dry days to remove dust and slow fungal growth.

Do not use high-pressure hoses (e.g., gurneys), which can strip protective coatings.

Light marks can be sponged off with warm water and mild, natural soap. Avoid harsh cleaners, sprays, powders, or concentrated detergents.

Do not scrub. Always allow the awning to dry completely before retracting.

Maintenance Tips

Keep plants, vines, and chemicals (e.g., insect repellents, fuels, solvents) away from the fabric.

Regularly inspect brackets and extrusions for signs of rust or wear.

While rust is uncommon, stainless steel components require routine care, especially in coastal areas:

Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then rinse thoroughly.

A Scotch-Brite pad can be used—never use steel wool.

Avoid bore water or other untreated sources that may leave residue or cause corrosion.

Operation & Longevity

Fully extend and expose your awning periodically in all seasons to prevent uneven shrinkage or moisture build-up.

Some fabric shrinkage over time is normal, especially in tropical or high-sun conditions.

Operate the awning (extend and retract) at least once every two months to maintain smooth operation.

Do not expose the motor system to water or attempt to adjust motor settings yourself.
